The heavens, the earth, and the human form—somewhere inbetween.

My work explores the nature of the universe and our place within it, sometimes through religion, sometimes through humor, and, as with my most recent project, through experimentation and scientific study. I work a variety of materials and mediums, focusing on the processes and techniques that best support my subject; the material and process of each piece is central to its meaning, and is often the subject of the work itself.

Current Project: Is There Art On Mars?

Through investigations into the material of Mars itself, this project focuses on the potential and possibilities of art-making by future human settlers on the planet of Mars. Using a simulant of Martian regolith (the analog to Earth’s soil) and materials potentially available (and able to spare) in a human colony, I experiment with different techniques for creating visual, semi-permanent works of human expression.
